Julia was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1985 after receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Texas College in 1980 and her Juris Doctor degree from Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas in 1984. Julia’s legal experience includes working at the Securities and Exchange Commission, staff attorney for the Law Offices of Royce West, Brown Pruitt Robinson & West, and Brown Robinson & West, P.C.

Julia has been a senior partner in West & Gooden, P.C. (formally Robinson, West & Gooden, P.C.) since its inception in 1994. Her areas of practice over the years have been family law, criminal law, probate law, ad valorem tax collection, business transactions, corporate formation, workers’ compensation and personal injury. Today, Julia’s primary focus areas are family law, personal injury law, and tort litigation. She also supervises the staff attorneys that practice in these areas.

Julia is admitted to practice law before all courts in the State of Texas and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She is a member of the American Bar Association, National Bar Association, Dallas Bar Association, J.L. Turner Legal Association and the Smith County Bar Association.

A lifelong Texas resident and a drum major for justice, Julia has been an adjunct professor in Criminal Justice, chairman of the Region V membership committee for the National Bar Association, and member of the Texas Southern University Presidential Advisory Committee. She is active in the Dallas and Tyler communities and currently serves on the Trustee Board for her church. Each year, she reports numerous pro bono hours with the State Bar of Texas and has been admitted to the State Bar College.
